How the Word Unscrambler Works

Type your letters into the box and hit Unscramble. The tool checks every combination of your letters — all lengths from 3 to 8 — against a dictionary of over 150,000 valid English words. Results are grouped by word length and sorted by Scrabble score so the highest-value plays appear first.

Use the filters to narrow results: Starts with lets you match letters already on the board, Ends with helps you hook onto existing words, and Must contain ensures a specific letter appears in every result.

Unscrambler vs Anagram Solver — What's the Difference?

An anagram solver uses exactly all your letters to form a word of the same length. The unscrambler finds words using any subset of your letters — shorter words included. For example, entering CRANE finds the 5-letter CRANE but also RACE, CARE, ACRE, CAN, CAR, and RAN. For Scrabble players, the unscrambler is almost always the right tool.
